The Grönefeld 1941 Principia is a 39.5 mm automatic watch with a light blue dial made by brothers Bart and Tim Grönefeld, independent watchmakers based in Oldenzaal, the Netherlands. Launched in 2018, it was the brand’s first time-only watch, from a family better known for complicated pieces like tourbillons and constant-force remontoires. Its name refers to Isaac Newton’s Principia, and 1941 marks the year the brothers’ grandfather opened the family watch shop. The dial is made of solid sterling silver, paired with polished applied baton markers and flame-blued hands. It is powered by the in-house automatic Calibre G-06 with a 22K gold rotor, hand-finished and visible through the sapphire caseback. The case measures 10.5 mm thick and is water resistant to 30 m. It comes on a blue buffalo leather strap with light blue stitching and a Grönefeld pin buckle. This example is brand new from 2026 and comes as a full set with box and papers, available on request from SRK Haute Horlogerie.
