Rolex enjoys springing surprises. The watch community has seen this over the years and this was also the case during Watches & Wonder (2021) when the brand unveiled an off-catalogue trio of stunning gem-set Day-Dates 36s, made from yellow gold, white gold and everose gold. These particular pieces were offered to select VVIP clients of Rolex and not part of the regular catalogue. These are not timepieces one sees often with only a handful ever being produced in the course of a short run.

Set with 254 brilliant-cut diamonds on the lugs, lug caps and case side, the gem-setting continues with 52 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel and 450 diamonds paved on the bezel. The dial contains additional special details with enamel coral-coloured index hour markets and Roman numerals for the VI and IX. From a movement perspective, the piece is equipped with the calibre 3255, whose barrel architecture and efficiency of the escapement leaders to a power reserve of approximately 70 hours.
