2006 was a pivotal year in the Patek Philippe collection for stainless steel watches. Not only was it the year the Nautilus collection celebrated its 30th anniversary but it was also the year we saw the debut of the now iconic References 5711-A and the 5980-A. Unveiling the Ref. 5980-A, Patek Philippe introduced the first chronograph function in the Nautilus collection, housing the caliber CH28-250 and representing a completely new design. Striking in function and aesthetics, this reference has become a sought-after icon and served as inspiration for the Ref. 5976G released in 2016. With a production run several years shorter than the Ref. 5711, a stainless steel Ref.5980 that is still new/unworn can be classified as a significant treasure.
